ChatGPT vs New Bing
Did you know that there are 2 versions of ChatGPT?
One is directly from OpenAI, and it is the one we call ChatGPT.
This version of ChatGPT is mainly trained on books and only has info from the internet up to 2021.
But, there is also what folks are calling the New Bing browser.
You’ll want to use the Edge browser and go to bing.com/new
And then sign up for the waitlist.
Once you get the email that you’re in, you can use the Edge browser and go to bing.com
And then sign in with the account you use for Microsoft, if you have one. If you don’t, you’ll need to get that too.
The New Bing incorporates a chatbox right on the homepage. But that’s more or less a search feature, and will just take you to regular search results.
What you want is to click the Chat link in the top left.
And it has access to the all of ChatGPT’s training, plus the current internet.
It will give you the answer, and give you links to the sites that it sourced the information from.
So, when you hear folks talk about using ChatGPT, be sure they tell you which one, as they are radically different, especially if you need information that was created after 2021, or to source a link on the internet to start with for something like a summary.
