Professional Communication Professor, John Shiga, researches how dolphins became strategically important to the world’s navies during the Cold World period, which led to the establishment of the research facility, The Dolphin House. Shiga’s research examines a series of sound recordings from within The Dolphin House which sparked a new direction for the project resulting in the creation of the audio-visual installation The Dolphin House: A sonic remapping of the cold war.
The research project was made possible thanks to the support of SSHRC (The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council) and the Department of Special Collections at the Stanford University Archives and the contributions of Jorge Ayala to the visual design.
