What limits even the best teams when working on a project? It can be many things, but if you want to gain control over your project, you need to successfully manage the team's capacity. Making the most of the team's capacity is best done through capacity control. Controlling the teams' capacity provides a perfect basis for a successful project.

Project managers have a lot on their plates all the time. Managing projects and teams is not a walk in the park. One of the project manager's top priorities is controlling capacity because it lets them in on all the details they need to push the project forward. Controlling capacity and adjusting to changes with Kanban capacity planning will take the project to the finish line.

The first step in achieving capacity control is correctly estimating your team's capacity. Even though unexpected changes can always happen, a team usually has a pretty steady pace at which they complete their tasks. Monitoring the team's capacity gives project managers enough time to react to sudden changes, maintaining complete control over the project.

Best teams have just enough tasks to work on at any time. They do not have too many tasks, causing them to burn out. They do not have too few tasks, leading them to boredom. Achieving a golden middle is easy to do with capacity control. Pair it with visualization techniques such as Kanban swimlanes; a project manager will always be able to see changes as they occur.

Using Kanban is a great way to overlook a project. Kanban swimlanes capacity planning will give project managers an even deeper insight into different types of work, allowing them to monitor the project's progress effortlessly.
