The Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) is a United States federal government-wide compliance program that provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services. It plays a crucial role in IT modernization for government agencies seeking to use cloud services. In December 2022, President Biden signed the FedRAMP Authorization Act as part of the FY23 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The Act codifies the requirement that cloud service providers (CSPs) obtain a FedRAMP authorization before working with the U.S. government.
