Engine Off Precision Landing at Strausberg (EDAY)
On the left - me, Georg Hekt aka the wannabe pilot, training a precision landing with the engine shut off. The aircraft is an ultra light Rider MD3 and the training is happening at Strausberg Airfield near Berlin (ICAO: EDAY).
The procedure begins at 2000 feet exactly above and in the direction of the runway in use. After shutting off the engine, the pilot performs a slow 360 degree turn while maintaining exact speed, which also ensures the best glide ratio and a smooth descend. The turn ends in the final approach on the runway in use and landing.
