Full text index speed vs LIKE operator
WordPress uses the LIKE operator by default. It's slow and inaccurate. The WPI Performance plugin v2.73 adds fulltext index support so you can get more accurate and faster results. 0.4 seconds vs 30 seconds on a server with 817,000 products.
