PIRATES CAVE HOTASIA MANI. A Documentary about a Cave Fort well hidden in Mani and unknown to the public. I present it to you today with the help of Elias Hasapis who told me the story in the first place. It is located near Hotasia village of West Mani and it's very easy to visit it. As soon as you arrive to the little port the old anchorage used by the pirates, wich is also the end of the road,2 klm after Hotasia, a 15 min hiking is enough to reach the fort and the entrance to the cave. As soon as you enter there is a big hall that leads to many different corridors and directions, a real labyrinth, very easy to get lost. One of the side corridors leads to an upper level making the cave a two-storey cave something unique. There is also a carved vessel on the rock where they use to store water from the running drops of the stalactite above. Right after the entrance of the fortes on the rock there are paintings of a cross and a hagiography by St Nikonas (metanoeite) who used to live there at winter time back to 1.600ac.
In general it's a monument worth visit and a very impressive fortified constrfouction that needs to be showcased to the public. This is part of Mani's history that can be seen today!
Thanks to: Elias Hasapis who made for me possible to tell the story.
