How to factory reset an Amazon Echo Dot (Any generation)
Quick guide to factory resetting any Amazon Echo or Echo Dot smart speaker.
Although I use a 4th generation model in the video, the hardware process (holding down the Action button) is exactly the same for the vast majority of modern Echo family speakers. This process is essential if you bought the device second-hand, if you are going to give it away, or if it's having connection issues and you need to start from scratch.
Once you have your speaker wiped and reset, it's the perfect time to set it up correctly and integrate it into your local smart home server. An Echo Dot is one of the best voice interfaces you can have to control your smart home through Home Assistant.
