Situation
The Faculty of the Built Environment requires the design of its own faculty building which will enable the various
departments to carry out their functions at an optimum level. The design is to be such that the departments can
operate independently of each other whilst also offering collaborative spaces when so required. The client
emphasized the need for the faculty building to be a symbol of what FOBE stands for as such all contemporary
and innovative aspects should be incorporated into the design. The design should, therefore use sustainable
construction techniques, materials as well as systems during the building's operational phase such as renewable
energy. In addition to the building itself, the client emphasizes the need for the design to provide bespoke
landscape solution and other features which aid the users of the faculty to escape from the confines of the
structure.
