Although the castle itself is not open to the public, its beautiful gardens are accessible and offer a peaceful retreat.
Vallø Castle has a storied past, including a devastating fire in 1893 that nearly destroyed it. Despite this, the castle was painstakingly rebuilt over ten years, preserving its cultural and historical value. Today, the castle is home to nine apartments for the Stifts Ladies and administrative offices. The grounds include the Big Red Castle, former royal buildings turned into apartments, and the White Castle, housing two apartments for the ladies of the Stift.
Visitors can enjoy the tranquil gardens, perfect for a peaceful walk and a moment of reflection. The gardens, though not heavily visited, provide a serene escape, especially for those looking to unwind after a busy day.
