Weight of the World
Ralph brought in a lick that had an alarming feel, like “wake up, pay attention!” So the call of “hey now” just fit the music.. it took me a while to write the words because at first I wrote it from the point of view of Atlas, as someone who had actually carried the world. But then I pursued the idea of us all carrying it. The song goes through so many stylistic changes that I felt it needed an epic voice like Robert Plant’s and I just had to sing it on vowels for a while. The lyrics definitely came last.
