CULLMAN CITY SCHOOLS OPEN WITH GREAT EXCITEMENT
Tuesday was the first day of school for students in the City of Cullman School System.
We arrived at East Elementary School this morning around 7:20 am. A long line of parents and sleepy-eyed students waited for the 7:30 am front door opening. 'Palpable excitement' best described the scene.
Afterward, we rushed over to West Elementary School. There, we encountered the famous West car line and the hundreds of students beginning the opening of the 2018-19 school year.
Along the way, we talked with the following people (in order of appearance):
★ David Wiggins, principal - East Elementary School
★ Dr. Susan Patterson, Superintendent
Cullman City Schools
★ Candice Grobe, 4th-grade Teacher
West Elementary
★ Dr. Jay Page, Principal - West Elementary
We were impressed by the extremely well thought out and seemingly effortless chaos management required for the first day of school by everyone involved.
