Space tourism is reality in more ways than one. One tourists named Dennis Tito purchased a ticket to the international space station. Another tourists bought a ticket to the edge of the atmosphere for a parachute jump. Virgin Galactic is going to be one of the first industries that provides access to space for consumers. Leonardo DiCaprio Is among those who want a ticket to go to space.

American businessman Dennis Tito was the world's first know space tourists. He purchased a 20 million dollar ticket for a trip to the international space station in 2001. However, he is a Rocket scientist by training and former nasa employee. So you could argue that he is not really a civilian. He is tied into the aeronautics industry. Tito paid his way through Russian space programs. Space Adventures is the name of the company, I think. He Circled the earth 128 times. 6 days. Amazing adventure. The cheapest foreseeable cost of a ticket to space, 5 million. However, if success is present, the price may become affordable to a normal person. But with a price tag like 5 million, it may take a long time. Watch Here:

Richard Branson, owner of Virgin Momobile, has been pioneering a company called Virgin Galactic. Verging galactic is a company that is constructing a commercial for prophet space program. The virgin galactic company manufactures its own space craft. The craft can almost make it to low earth orbit. It can take a crew to super high altitudes with fractions of the cost of conventional space rocket liftoff systems. There are claims that it is a craft that saves energy. However, there are solid arguments that claim the energy savings are exaggerated. Time will tell where the future of this project leads humanity.
