Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 vs Real Flight (KSPG: St Petersburg, FL: Albert Whitted Airport)
Recently flew a trip to KSPG. On the way out, I put up my 360 cam on the wing.
I used my Foreflight track log and played it back while trying to fly a similar path in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. I tried setting the time of day to the same and all, but seems despite it showing me local and zulu time, I ended up off by some number of hours based on the sun position. I was going to try this again and get it better, but decided I wouldn't spend a ton of time on it. It's good enough to showcase the premise.
If anyone has a way to make FS2020 follow my real track log data for a "perfect" comparison, let me know!
I was "flying" the sim with an Xbox 360 controller, poorly.... but good enough. haha. Some sections of the sim footage are time-shifted to fit landmark passes in the real footage. Like I said, I think it's close enough for a comparison. Real footage is 3x sped up.
