A lot has changed ever since its opening in 1935. The road has become wider, safer and more comfortable. Exhibitions and museums, huts and mountain inns, visitors’ centres and information points are dedicated to the multifaceted mountain world with its stunning nature and biota at the heart of the High Tauern National Park. The mountain road blends in seamlessly with the scenery, makes for one-of-a-kind mountain experiences and has been ensuring driving fun beyond compare on 48 km for over 80 years.
