Open the Word document in Microsoft Word.
Go to the “File” menu and hit “Save As”.
Pick a spot on your computer to save it.
Open Google Docs in the browser, click “+ New”.
Pick “File upload” from the drop-down menu.
Choose the Word document you just saved.
It automatically converts into Google Docs format.
