After John Major took over as PM he began to fall out with Mrs Thatcher on the European Issue. After the Major Govt was forced to withdraw from the ERM, after having forced Mrs Thatcher into the policy while she was in charge, she wasted no time in reminding the party that it was a huge mistake as she had predicted 3 years earlier. It also marked to start of the Thatcher view on Europe being proved right again and again even well after her death. She was able to force the Major and Blair Govts to shy away from the single currency as well as giving help to the rise of UKIP.
