Webinar Panel: Zimbabwe Elections Impact on US Foreign Policy
International observers have criticized the recent elections in Zimbabwe for lack of transparency, independence, fairness and credibility. The panel with regional subject matter experts will explore how the elections are likely to impact US - Zimbabwe relations. The panel includes former U.S. Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Charles Ray.

JAMES RYAN
James Ryan is the Director of Research at the Foreign Policy Research Institute. He has a Ph.D. in Middle Eastern History from the University of Pennsylvania. He studies and analyzes Turkish history and politics in his writing for FPRI and other outlets, including War on the Rocks, the Washington Post, and New Lines Magazine.
AMBASSADOR CHARLES A. RAY
Ambassador Charles A. Ray, a member of the Board of Trustees and Chair of the Africa Program at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, served as U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of Zimbabwe. In addition, he was the first U.S. Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, opening the Consulate General there in 1998.
GILBERT KHADIAGALA
Gilbert Khadiagala is Professor of International Relations at the University of the Witswatersrand, Johannesburg. He studies East, Southern Africa, and African international relations.
MICHAEL WALSH
Michael Walsh is a Senior Fellow in the Foreign Policy Research Institute’s Africa Program. He is a senior subject matter expert who regularly advises governments, humanitarian organizations, and think tanks on democracy, development, and security affairs. He currently serves as an Adjunct Fellow at Howard University, Program Advisor at the Center for African Studies, and Visiting Researcher at the Georgetown School of Foreign Service. Walsh is a regular commentator on Africa affairs. Recent outlets include Center for Strategic and International Studies, Council on Foreign Relations, and European Consortium for Political Research.
MCDONALD LEWANIKA
McDonald Lewanika is a Politics and Development professional and researcher with over 20 years of experience working in Zimbabwe and the Southern Africa region. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the London School of Economics and is currently the Regional Director for East and Southern Africa for Accountability Lab.
RINGISAI CHIKOHOMERO
Ringisai Chikohomero is a political affairs analyst and researcher with the Institute for Security Studies focusing of Governance, Human Security and Democracy in Southern Africa. He is also an expert in International Development with work experience in East and Southern Africa.
