Diminutive…who?!?
It's well known that musicians (especially guitarists) regard that chord there, hidden at the bottom of the major scale, with fear and even a bit of disdain, of dubious origin and use. Except those who know them. They love them.

Then watch the video and you'll discover that diminished (and half-diminished) chords are a powerful ally in many circumstances. You can think of them as a teleport between different keys, or a wild card to play in place of the dominant.
