Commonwealth Tribute to Life Inaugural Ceremony - July 22nd 2022 LIVE
On the 22nd July 2022, we celebrate the official inauguration of the Commonwealth Tribute to Life Memorandum of Understanding.
The Inaugural Ceremony is being held on a Friday evening, one week before the Commonwealth Games, as an endorsed project by ‘United by Birmingham 2022’ – the legacy charity of the Commonwealth Games. The evening will involve a 3-course-meal, entertainment and a variety of speeches from international collaborators on this global health initiative.
The Inaugural Ceremony will mark the start of the initial five-year term of the Memorandum of Understanding among Commonwealth nations, which creates a framework for the sharing of knowledge and expertise on ethical organ donation and transplantation. The Commonwealth Tribute to Life Project is the culmination of three years of work. To date, 42 of the 54 Commonwealth member nations have committed to this shared initiative, representing 2.6 billion (98.6%) of all Commonwealth citizens.
This project was formally launched on 14th March 2022, and has already had positive outcomes through connectivity of healthcare professionals across the Commonwealth, with an ongoing series of weekly masterclass webinars.
