Ensuring stable access to clean water for 60,000 people in Marhanets in southern Ukraine
The city of Marhanets in southern Ukraine lies just five kilometres from Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. Around 65,000 people and over 1,000 businesses are badly affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine as the front line is close to the city.
Daily shelling damages water pipelines, energy networks, substations and pumping stations, depriving the population of clean drinking water. People in Need, with financial support from the European Union, has delivered pumping equipment and water storage tanks to the city to support the local community. Thanks to this assistance, about 60,000 people will have stable access to clean water.
