The plan for this bass guitar was to buy the cheapest parts possible. So I started of with a cheap neck from eBay. It had 5/8" holes for the tuning pegs, which isn't the most common size, so I had to buy a special pair of tuning pegs which raised the price of this build. After that I realized the bridge I bought from amazon wasn't even a bass bridge, it was a $10 ukulele Bridge. I had no idea what I was doing. The final cost ended up being a little less than $500. Which is way more that I thought it was going to be. So before you build your own bass make sure you think over every step and leave room for error, because there will be error.
If your on a budget, the cheapest way to build a guitar would be to buy a bass guitar kit from Ebay for around $150 - $200. and if you want, you could throw out the body they give you and build your own.
