Akrapovic for $50, or how to shed a few extra pounds... off your motorcycle)
In this video, I'll tell you how to shed a few extra pounds from your motorcycle in two weeks. A review of the Chinese "Akrapovic" for the Yamaha TTR 250.
That's the long and short of it. For those who don't mind reading:
Motorcycle tuning, especially for an enduro bike, is primarily aimed at reducing weight (in my personal opinion). Therefore, the stock exhaust was ditched. I ordered this exhaust from AliExpress, a replica of the famous Akrapovich, from China. This meant turning the stock "poop-poop-poop" into a true "braap." At the same time, the goal was to maintain comfort on long trips. But the main reason for this tuning was to reduce the weight of the motorcycle. The more, the better. Lifting the loaded bike up a wet Carpathian slope, every gram was felt. Especially when the helmet vents were clogged with mud. What if it burns out or falls off on the road? I've had those same thoughts too. But fortunately, our Chinese friends made this pipe very well. And there were no reliability issues.
P.S. I returned from Romania in August 2018. About 3,000 km on the odometer. Everything's fine. No headaches. The bike runs fine. But! I have four steel wool pads (for washing dishes) inside the muffler. I did this to reduce noise at the beginning of the year. The muffler itself hasn't burned out. It hasn't rusted. In short, everything's fine. I didn't throw away the original pipe. But I never needed it. Now I'm going to sell the bike. I want a KTM 690R.
