how to setup HD OSD layout on Ardupilot using HD OSD Tool ----UPDATE
Just an update to the earlier posted video...Thanks for the friends of mine who gave me tips on how to do this faster. :-) no need to copy-paste the lines one at a time, apparently Mission Planner is smart enough to interpret it.
Setting up HD OSD layout on Ardupilot using Mission Planner is quite a pain in the @$$, especially that Ardupilot does not have a proper configurator for the HD OSD. Most likely if you are unaware of the HD OSD Tool, you are setting up the OSD by trial and error method in Mission Planner. And yes, it is really frustrating to get it done since you cannot see the entire grid! In this video, I will walk you through how to setup the HD OSD much easier than doing hit and miss with the element coordinates. Note that the process still involves some manual tweaking of things, don't worry, this is much BETTER than having NOTHING. Hopefully in the future Ardupilot users will have a proper configurator that is HD OSD ready as well.
After you finished setting it up, you can easily copy all your OSD elements to another setup by just comparing the parameter files, no need to redo the entire process. Basically this is just a one time setup to do. Thus, not really a pain to do in the future.
Summary of steps in using the HD OSD Tool:
1. Create a parameter backup using Parachute or Mission Planner.
2. Paste your configuration in the textbox below. Your OSD items will be displayed. Resize your browser window to your needs (strg +/- | cmd +/-).
3. Add OSD elements from the list on the right or re-arrange them as you like.
4. Copy the generated parachute command to the CLI or the Mission Planner config to a textfile and restore.
