Shetruji River Dam - शेत्रुजी नदी बांध
शेत्रुंजी नदी गुजरात के अमरेली जिले की सबसे बड़ी २२७ किमी लंबी नदी है। वह गीर जंगल में स्थित चांचांई टेकरी से निकल कर धारी गांव के पास पालीताना की टेकरियों के उत्तर में शेत्रुंजय पर्वत के पास से गुजर कर तलाजा की टेकरियों के पास गोपनाथ से १० किमी दूर खंभात की खाड़ी में अरब सागर में मिलती है। उसके जल का व्याप ५६३६ वर्ग किमी का है। इस नदी का पानी रोकने के लिये शेत्रुंजी बांध बनाया गया है।
भारत के पहले प्रधानमंत्री जवाहरलाल नेहरू ने १९५५ में इस बांध की नींव रखी थी। खोडियार बांध १९६७ में बनाया गया था। ३२ मीलियन घन मीटर संग्रहशक्ति है इसकी। लेकिन २०१९ में इसमें ५ मीलियन घन मीटर से अधिक पानी नहीं है। इस पानी से २४ गांवों की १६,६७५ एकड़ जमीन की सिंचाई संभव है। यह अमरेली शहर में पेयजल का मुख्य स्त्रोत है। इस स्थान पर गणधरा खोडियार माताजी का सुप्रसिद्ध मंदिर स्थित है। इस मंदिर के सामने नदी के काले पत्थरों में पानी का झरना भी है।
शेत्रुंजी नदी का उद्गम ५५ किमी के अंतर पर खोडियार बांध और १६० किमी के अंतर पर शेत्रुंजी बांध है, इसी कारण यहां के किसान सिंचाई के लिये पानी की मांग कर रहे हैं। वे कहते हें कि नर्मदा बांध सिंचाई के लिये बनाया गया है ऐसे में उसका पानी बांध को भरने नहीं अपितु सिंचाई के लिय उपयोग में लाया जाना चाहि
The Shetrunji River is the largest 228 km long river in Amreli district of Gujarat. It leaves Chanchani Tekri in the Gir forest and passes through the Shetrunjaya mountain north of the Palitana basins near Dhari village and joins the Arabian Sea in the Gulf of Khambhat, 10 km from Gopnath, near Talja's basins. Its water spread is 5834 square kilometers. To stop the water of this river, the Shetrunji dam has been built.
The foundation of this dam was laid by the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru in 1955. The Khodiyar dam was built in 1949. It has a storage capacity of 32 million cubic meters. But in 2019 it has no more than 5 million cubic meters of water. With this water, it is possible to irrigate 18,65 acres of land in 24 villages. It is the main source of drinking water in the city of Amreli. The famous temple of Ganadhara Khodiyar Mataji is located at this place. There is also a waterfall in the black stones of the river in front of this temple.
The origin of the Shetrunji river is the Khodiyar dam at a distance of 55 km and the Shetrunji dam at a distance of 160 km, which is why the farmers here are demanding water for irrigation. They say that the Narmada dam is designed for irrigation, so its water should not be used to fill the dam but should be used for irrigation.
