In 1996, there was a demoscene contest for the MSX system whose rules were pretty tough: the resulting program had to be smaller than only 512 bytes. Excellent entries were submitted to the contest but the (probably) best one was NOT the winner.
Spanish developer David Madurga (AKA Trunks) coded this little beauty in pure Z80 assembly for MSX2. The demo had moving vertical bars, flying lines and... it was still able to draw a Sierpiński pattern on screen.
Sadly, the fractal part needed some time to render on screen and many people thought those (apparently) random pixels were just glitches. Nobody waited long enough to understand the incredible job that Trunks did here.
Now you can watch and enjoy the greatness of this little program again.
