Importing CSV files into an Excel spreadsheet is a common task. In this tutorial, I'll show you how to import and prepare a CSV file in Excel in just a few steps. I'll also show you what to pay attention to during the import process to make subsequent work with it as straightforward as possible.

The cell format is particularly important when importing CSV files into Excel, i.e., whether they are integers, decimal numbers, dates, etc. You should always check this, and the Office 365 version of Excel's Power Query Editor is ideal for this. It allows you to reformat entire columns with a mouse click. It also allows you to remove empty or unwanted rows (or multiple rows) before the import process, preventing them from being imported at all.

Finally, the import into Excel takes place, which formats the dataset directly as a table, where filters, etc., can be used.
