One of the largest democracies in the world, India celebrates its 73rd Independence Day on August 15, 2019. It was on this day in the year 1947 when Indians finally attained independence from the Britishers after being under their unjust rule for 200 years. Indians celebrate this patriotic day by hoisting the tricolour flag and remembering the struggles of the freedom fighters who fought for the country. As Indians, it is a day for us to remember where we are coming from and what freedom truly means for us. Independence Day is also a reminder for all citizens that we are Indians first and we should strive to make our country better.
