Docker on Proxmox LXC 🚀 The Better Way (2026 Updated Guide)
Two years ago, I showed you how to run Docker in an unprivileged Proxmox LXC container. Thanks to our amazing community (who absolutely roasted me in the comments for switching screens too fast 😅), I'm back with an updated, improved guide.
The biggest change? Put your Docker folder on a separate mount point. When I upgraded from Ubuntu 22.04 to 24.04, the OS upgrade took 20 minutes - but migrating my Docker data took forever. With a separate mount point at /home/anand/docker, your OS becomes disposable and your data persists. When Ubuntu 26.04 comes out later this year, I can spin up a fresh LXC, mount the same Docker disk, run docker compose up, and I'm back in business.
