Here are a few tips for best results.

*If you can't find satoimo yams, you may use regular potatoes for this dish.
*Using beef with some fat ( marbling ) will result in tender meat.
*If you can't find konnyaku, eliminate from the recipe.

Serves 2

500 grams satoimo yams or regular potatoes(4-5 yams or 1 small potato per person)cut into bite-sized pieces.
300 grams thinly-sliced beef(marbled beef is best)cut into bite-sized pieces
1/2 block Konnyaku cut into bite-sized pieces
1 stalk Japanese negi ( green onions ) or leeks cut on the bias
Seasonings
3 tablespoons soy sauce          
1 1/2 tablespoons sake
3 cups water
