In the mid-16th century, there lived an artist in Spain, whom his contemporaries called Domenico Greco. Because he was from Greece, and his real name was unpronounceable for the Spaniards. But he will go down in history as El Greco. Modern researchers still wonder how an artist in the 16th century could come up with such painting techniques that masters began to use only centuries later.
