1993 Mariner 50HP Outboard Motor 4 stroke Running on Hose Carbs dirty dropping idle not idling good
Sent this video to a friend before a trip up to Minnesota, was debating whether or not to go based on how the engine was running.
I spent hours trying to get this motor tuned correctly, in the end I had to take it to an old school mechanic at a marina near me he got it working perfectly. He told me that the carbs still had some dirt in them. I cleaned them 3 times but apparently did not get all the junk out.
The prop clanking should not happen. Idle was dropping to low and had lose of power on top end as well.
Best recommendation I can tell you on these is drain every drop of gas out for the winter months so your carbs don't get clogged. Otherwise your spending $500 every year on a tuneup!
