Kind, directed by Gabriela Carrizo and Franck Chartier, is the last instalment of our family trilogy that opened with Vader (Father) in 2014, followed by Moeder (Mother) in 2016. Now, we find ourselves in an outside space, dominated by high cliffs and towering trees. Though seemingly natural, it is clearly a constructed space, a play on the blurring border between reality and fake. A little girl is trying to make sense of the world around her, forging her identity and confronting her hopes, dreams, nightmares and imagination. This universe, however, exists before good and evil. It is violent, savage and the absence of borders gradually paves a path to an unknown darkness.
