The 2024 Mamf, the largest cultural diversity festival in Korea, ended successfully on the 13th with a 'cultural diversity parade' at Changwon Yongji Cultural Park .
Mamf is an abbreviation for Migrants' Arirang Multicultural Festival.
Governor Park Wan-soo visited the 'Cultural Diversity Parade' on the 13th and said, "It is very meaningful that Gyeongnam is taking the lead in creating a culture where we can move forward together as one family with foreigners." He added, "Gyeongnam will actively discuss with the government and promote the introduction of a Gyeongnam-style metropolitan visa and the establishment of a complex center to support foreign worker settlement in order to accompany foreigners."
Governor Park then declared the parade's powerful start together with the local residents.
This year's 'Cultural Diversity Parade' featured a colorful mask procession expressing the 'Mascara Festival' of the host country, the Philippines, 'Truck Art' decorated with various patterns of Pakistan, and the King's March of Vietnam, with 18 teams participating to present a rich and colorful procession.
In particular, this year, a combined team of six Central and South American countries, Ecuador, Peru, Guatemala, Venezuela, Bolivia, and Mexico, participated for the first time and presented traditional costumes and dances, and a team of Korean college students decorated the end of the parade.
2024 Mamf' was held for three days from October 11 to 13 with people from 21 countries around the world.
The special performances by the guest country, which took place on the 11th and 12th, commemorated the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and the Philippines, and the Bayani Korean Dance Company and the Little Angels Art Troupe from the Philippines performed a joint performance under the theme of “75 Years of Friendship, Asia Connected by Excitement and Style,” touching the audience.
On the evening of the 11th, following the splendid opening celebration performances by Insooni, the Bayani Korean Dance Company, and the Little Angels Art Troupe, a drone show with the theme of diversity was held to decorate the night sky.
The Mamp Dance Festival held on Saturday the 12th saw a fierce competition between 9 teams that advanced to the finals, and the Korean women's group team 'Little Raja' won the grand prize, while the Philippines' 'The zealous PH' team won the grand prize. The Mongolian team 'DANCE WITH US' and the Korean team 'KLAXON' won the excellence prize. They presented a splendid and wonderful dance performance and created a stage for the audience to enjoy together.
On the last day of the event, the 13th, 'Migrant Arirang' was held by country in various places in the festival grounds, and performances by artists invited by the Korean community associations of each country and special stages by the Korean community association and international students' association were held simultaneously.
In addition, the cultural diversity parade with 1,500 people from 18 teams was the highlight of the Mamp Festival, where immigrants and local residents enjoyed the diverse cultures of each country together.
The 'World Music Concert' held on the same day brought together artists representing Asia, such as Philippine Horizon, China's Hengshan District Janggu Team, and Vietnam's Guadduanyu, to perform in Korea, bringing the world together in music and concluding the 2024 MAMF Festival.
The Mamf Festival is growing into Asia's largest global festival, and with the number of participating countries increasing every year, it is serving as a welcoming gesture for a multicultural community society that respects each other through diverse cultures and arts from various countries around the world.
