How I wish I could be on my way home.
Do you remember your last holiday? A week spent on some beach in Europe, trying to get a tan. Not exactly memorable was it. You will remember a week in Wales though. You will remember how it felt to walk up pen y fan, and have miles and miles of Welsh scenery laid out before you, as you stood at the highest point in southern Britain. You will remember the day you went to see the waterfalls. The loud rumbling sound that filled the air as you approached the biggest one. And you will definitely remember how you were able to walk behind that waterfall, and watch the waters race past, as you stayed perfectly dry, from directly behind that raging ark, of shimmering water. You will remember St Govans chapel, nestling on the sea shore, built between two giant walls of stone. And the sound of the sea, and the Guillemots calling through the mist, as they nest safely on pillars of stone just meters in front of you. You will also remember the day you stood on the longest and highest aqueduct in Britain, and how you peered over the edge to see the river Dee flowing 126 feet below you.
And how much money did it cost for all these memorable experiences? Nothing! apart from the price of the warm cosy accommodation, with your friendly welsh landlady. (remember the Tea, and the plate of welsh cakes she had waiting for you when you arrived?) And the price of your food and the fine Welsh beer you consumed as you spent the evenings in front of that roaring log fire in the local pub. So spend a while in the home of the welcoming Dragon, and when you return to your lives and jobs, you too will be longing for the day that you can return back home to Wales.
God I can be such a big eloquent bugger sometimes!
