I'm learning that B6 toxicity has several components to look into when you're trying to figure out how this happened. I guess a lot of genetic factors need to be evaluated if the cause is not a medical obvious one. For example if you are diabetic (which I have been tested for that in the recent past and I am not even pre-diabetic) it makes sense that this might happen to you if you took supplements over the recommended dose on the regular.
I think it does actually matter what kind of B6 you are taking as well, some of the cheaper formulas load up on the inactive form and it's harder for your body to use that. I think Pyridoxal 5-phosphate or P5P is the active form and the easiest for our bodies to use. I think what I learned is that essentially you have a lot of the inactive form of B6 in your body if you are at toxic levels.
Another thing to consider is the type of test you used to discern you are B6 toxic. I had my plasma tested and I didn't know that that test basically shows how much B6 is outside the cells not inside the cells. Meaning you could have a plasma count that is high but you could also actually be B6 deficient inside your cells thus needing a different type of blood test to confirm toxicity. If you have a lot of B6 outside your cells but hardly any inside then there is a transfer issue in your body. Do you see how it's a bit complicated to treat if you don't know how you became toxic. This is exactly why I didn't want to tell you what I was doing to get better because there are so many factors that come into play. Get specific answers for your body and be well. I hope that you take care.
