Voices from the Pits Documentary
"Voices from the Pit" is a documentary that draws the attention of policymakers to the plight of women and marginalized groups in mining host communities in Nigeria and the significant environmental degradation occurring in these areas. The video documentary seeks to prompt regulators to review and implement relevant laws to ensure that mining activities are conducted responsibly and equitably in a way to ensure mining benefits the state, the environment, and all community members, regardless of their gender, tribal, economic, religious, or political affiliations.
Filming for the documentary was done in six states spread across the 6 geopolitical zones of Nigeria, namely: Kogi, Edo, Ekiti, Kaduna, Taraba, and
Ebonyi.
The documentary was done by the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD).
