Dear, devoted, and respected friends!
I completed an introductory online course on how to play basic musical instruments.
What was included in the course:
1) Study of E.S. Jayadvaita Swami - Srila Prabhupada's Kirtan Standards
2) Listening to lectures and excerpts from Spiritual Masters and senior devotees
3) Studying Harideva Prabhu's book, Conscious Bhajan with Vraja Hari das
4) Studying the culture of kirtan and playing the karatalas and mridanga with Ananda Tarangini devi dasi
5) Studying music theory and voice training with Gaura Giridhari das
6) Karatalas practice with Vaishnava Thakura das
7) Mridanga practice with Yashoda Kumara das
8) Harmonium theory and practice with Bhakta Prahlada das
9) Inspiring instruction from senior devotees
10) Regular kirtan practice sessions
The course ran from June 1st to August 31st, 2024.
There is an archive of 42 video lessons on the theory and practice of playing musical instruments. There were 13 practical lessons with Vaishnavas and 10 with Vaishnavi students. Over 45 hours of individual vocal lessons were provided. Participants also had three months of individual practice.
We thank the devoted participants who regularly made voluntary donations for the upgrade of musical equipment.
There is still an opportunity to join the course and begin studying the material for those who wish to begin their training and immerse themselves in service to the Holy Name.
Also, if anyone has experience teaching musical instruments and is interested in participating in the training, they can inform Vraja Hari dasa, and we will coordinate your participation in continuing the course next year.
