On yet another bloody September morning, the Azerbaijani Army attacked the beleaguered, betrayed by peacekeepers, abandoned by Armenia, and starved for months Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh. Neither decades of negotiations nor two wars where one side or the other emerged victorious brought us any closer to peace.
The international community and multiple negotiating platforms have been active yet anemic. The local and international peacebuilding community has entered a deep coma, leaving the monopoly over the conflict at the hands of autocrats and underqualified novices has led us to cycles or rather spirals of violence.
