A year ago, TARGO released the VR documentary “Surviving 9/11” for the 20th commemoration of the September 11 attacks.
The experience tells the moving story of Genelle Guzman-McMillan, the last survivor rescued from the rubble of the Twin Towers, from her arrival in NYC to her current life twenty years later.
🖼 Today, we look back at our creative process. It all started when we discovered never-seen-before footage of the World Trade Center taken by visionary photographers of the early 2000s…
💡How could we transform them using the tech tools and expertise we have? How could we harness VR to make the viewer feel closer to Genelle?
From these thoughts, we explored the best technical, narrative, and visual ways to use virtual reality as a new way to remember 9/11 while being respectful to the victims and their families.
