The Annotative property for selected object types was added in AutoCAD 2008 and since its inclusion has become a major tool for managing objects with the correct scale in viewports.
Prior to annotative objects, users had to make multiple copies of the same object for differing scales in their drawings - this process results in an unnecessary amount of duplicated data in your drawing consequently adding to the drafting time.
With annotative objects we can have a single object with multiple scales and positions
