My family and I went to the Royal Gorge outside of Cañon City, Colorado. I hadn't been there since I was 12 years old, when it was still the tallest suspension bridge in the world. It's still currently the highest suspension bridge in the United States. There are a ton of activities for families, including a few spots to eat, a carousel & playground, a terraced park with a stage for concerts, a crazy swing that goes out over the canyon, ziplines across the canyon, and gondolas that go back and forth all day. Just outside the park there is a trail system that looks pretty cool, and since Owen asked me to go for a ride, I found a green trail with a slight and constant descent to ride with him. We quickly figured out he might not be ready for trail, but at that point it was too late to turn around, and after riding 1/4 of the 2 mile trail, he fell and put his hand into a cactus. Game over. I figured out how to bail out and get him and his bike back to the car, and then I climbed back to my bike and rode the rest of the short trail.
