This replaces the standard layup line warmups before games and during practices, which don't give enough specific practice elements and have too much waiting around.

This video has no sound, intentionally. Study the mechanics of the drill.

Rebounder passes to either Top or Wing (alternating) and EXPLODES to close out on them using proper Close Out technique. Player catching the ball passes to perimeter teammate, sets up their defender with an opposite jab step and then Basket Cuts, receiving the pass back and making the layup.

The first half of the drill the defender is instructed to close out normally and the passer makes a Front Cut (ball side). The second half of the drill the defender closes out then overplays after the pass is made to deny the pass back, at which time the passer makes a Rear Cut (back cut) to the basket.

In advanced versions the defender can close out and defend however they see fit and the offense will Read the defense and React with the appropriate cut accordingly.

Unlike in the video, I prefer bounce passes to be made to the cutting players.
