Are Analog Crossovers Better Than DLMS? | Phase Response Test with Smaart Live
This time, I tested the frequency response of the DBX 234XL analog crossover, the Behringer DCX2496 DLMS, and the Wisdom DX4080 DLMS. The purpose of this test was to determine the frequency and phase response of the analog crossover, which could then be replicated in the DLMS. It turns out that the analog crossover has an advantage that is somewhat difficult to implement in the DLMS: excellent phase response.
I stated that the analog crossover's phase response is superior because, without much adjustment, the phases of the high and low outputs in 2-way stereo mode are directly connected with a phase difference of nearly 0 degrees. However, with the Behringer DLMS, I couldn't achieve such results. With the Wisdom DLMS, a 0-degree difference can be achieved by increasing the EQ settings using a Type 1 All-Pass filter.
