With data Validation, you can control the data that can be entered in a cell either by;
I. Restricting data entry to contain numbers or text or dates,
II. Using the Error Message setting to warn user whenever Out-of-range data is entered,
III. Creating a drop-down list of options in a cell to guild users on what data to enter.
Data Validation does not only ensure Consistency in data entry but also reduce typing mistakes and input errors.
