UndocU | A Brief History of the Undocumented Movement
As Chantal said in our introductory episode, we need to understand the history of the undocumented movement in order to better understand what our current rights are and what we should be stepping up and fighting for. Organizers and advocates build momentum for the DREAM Act and passes it passes the House

The DREAM Act failed to pass the Senate by five votes! FIVE VOTESSS!!!
June 15th, 2012
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals enacted by President Obama and carried out by DHS
Fall 2012
United We Dream started redirecting focus from undocumented students to overall immigration reform for all undocumented people
2013
Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act introduced and activists fought against amendments that watered-down the bill
Fall 2013
Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act considered dead due to continued stalling

United We Dream begins pushing for Administrative Relief

On the local level, organizers are pushing back against secure communities, deportations, stopping deportation buses, committing civil disobedience, lobbying and pressuring congress, and STANDING UP AGAINST THE PRESIDENT!
