Mantel and Haenszel chi-square test (χ2 MH ) is used for a set of data that are placed in two by two by two contingence table. MH test can be used to verify samples with an n as small as two data, or a large n with over 5000 participants. Mantel and Haenszel assumes the data set to be a hyper-geometric probability model. Calculation of OR and pooled odds ratio by confounding variable by using MH test is illustrated here by using SPSS and STATA software.
