Garlic Sesame Lo Mein Recipe (with shrimp)

A quick and easy Asian noodle side dish, Garlic Sesame Lo Mein is loaded with classic garlic and ginger flavor, as well as nutty toasted sesame seeds. Make it as spicy or as mild as you want with dried red chilies!

Prep Time 10 mins, Cook Time 10 mins, Total Time 20 mins, Servings 4 to 6 servings

Ingredients
• 1 package (16 oz) lo mein noodles (or linguini, spaghetti, etc.), prepared according to package instructions
• 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
• 6 cloves garlic, minced
• 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, minced
• 1 teaspoon dried red chili flakes, optional
• Optional vegetable (sliced onions, mushrooms, carrots, broccoli, etc.)
• 6 tablespoons soy sauce
• 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
• 1 tablespoon sesame oil
• 2 to 3 green onions, thinly sliced for garnish
• Optional Cooked Protein (shrimp, chicken, scallops, tofu, etc.)

Instructions
1. Put water on to boil. Season with salt.
2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the vegetable oil, garlic, and ginger. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly.
3. Add the optional dried red chili flakes, if using. Stir into the garlic and ginger mixture. Add the optional vegetables if using, such as sliced mushrooms, onions, etc.
4. Next, add the soy sauce, sesame seeds, cooked noodles, and optional cooked protein. Toss to combine and coat. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until noodles are heated through.
5. Turn off heat. Add sesame oil and green onions. Toss to coat. Add additional soy sauce if needed.
6. Serve and garnish with extra toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
