In the previous lecture we have seen what is the problem with linear regression when it comes to binary classification problems (such as spam detection). Logistic regression is not sensitive to outliers - so logistic regression is one of the best approaches when there are 2 possible outcomes.
Another important feature of logistic regression is that it assigns a probability to the predicted items. This is why the logistic function (sigmoid curve) came to be.
