"DIAL" Installation - Documentation Video
"Dial" is a lighting installation project inspired by On Kawara's work. It is one of the projects in the Display Design subject, Communication Design, Chulalongkorn University. The concept of this project is art appropriation using lighting techniques.
The installation plays with shadow techniques. The inspiration comes from the sundial that used the sunlight to tell the time. The concept of our project is the sun changing the angel in a “cycle” every day. We put 6 plates surrounding the light source in a circle. The light revolving around itself in the center represents the sun. The different shadow casting from each plate depends on angles representing the sun's position. Each plate represents the time period, named with our personal interpretation of fictional characters. Starting from sunrise to sunset, there are Rapunzel(7:00), Belle(9:00), Tiana(12:00), Mulan(14:00), Alice(16:00) and Aurora(18:00). (The interpretation description is placed below each plate)
